토익 스피킹 갱신 후기 및 실전 압축 꿀팁 (기록용)

2024년 1월이 되었다. 그 말인 즉슨, 2022년도 1월에 봐둔 토익 스피킹이 만료된다는 것…!

외국어 공부는 재미로 하면 즐거운데 시험을 위해서 하려면 고통스럽다 😵‍💫

이번에는 너무 하기 싫어서 미루고 미루다가 불현듯 더 이상 미루면 평생 안 할 것 같다는 생각이 들어 일주일 뒤 시험을 먼저 신청해두고, 2년 전에 기록해두었던 토익 스피킹 꿀팁을 참고하여 시험 전날 저녁부터 공부를 시작했다.

공부 시간이 짧기도 했고 엄청난 고득점을 한 것도 아니지만 2026년도의 내가 또 토익 스피킹을 치게될 수 있으니, 이번에 공부하며 다시 정리했던 2024 ver. 실전 압축 토익 스피킹 팁을 기록해두려 한다!

파트별 팁

파트 1

Q1-2 / 준비 45초 / 답변 45초

• 준비 시간에 쭉 읽어보면서 고유 명사, 끊어 읽을 곳 등을 체크한다.
• 천천히 읽어도 된다.
• 빠르게 발음이 어려운 부분을 준비 시간동안 읽어보고, 남은 준비 시간 동안은 파트 2~5 템플릿을 스크래치 페이퍼에 기록해두자.

파트 2

Q3-4 / 준비 45초 / 답변 30초

• 사물이 찍힌 “장소”와 “사람 혹은 사물 2개”를 키워드로 정리하고, 전체적으로 상황을 정리하는 짧은 문장을 메모한다.

• 무엇을 묻고 있는지 간단히 메모한다.

  • “언제?”, “얼마나 자주?”와 같은 질문이 주어지므로, 미리 생각해둔 답변 후보들을 이용해서 대답한다.

• 만능 답변을 잘 익혀두어야 한다.

Q8-10 / 지문 읽기 45초 / 문항당 준비 3초 / 답변 15초, 15초, 30초

• 지문 읽기 시간에 입모양만으로라도 지문을 쭉 읽어보며 발음을 익힌다. (특히 고유 명사)
• 무엇을 묻고 있는지 메모한다.
• 주제마다 자주 사용하는 용어 및 표현을 떠올리고 메모한다.

• 말할거리가 많이 떠오르는 것을 의견으로 정하고, 두 가지 이유를 생각하고, 각각의 예시 및 구체적인 설명을 떠올린다.
• 만능 답변을 잘 익혀두어야 한다.
• 템플릿에 맞추어 대답한다.

시험 후기

2024년 1월 14일, 2년 전과 마찬가지로 가천대학교 법과대학에서 시험을 쳤다. 다만, 맨 뒷 자리에 앉았던 이전과는 다르게 이번에는 맨 앞 자리에 앉았는데 이건 엄청난 실수였다. 맨 앞 자리에서는 모든 사람들의 답변 소리가 모여 헤드폰을 뚫고 들어온다는 사실을 몰랐기 때문이다. 😱 변명이긴 하지만 이 소리 때문에 당황한채로 시험이 시작되었으며, 덕분에 나는 스크래치 페이퍼도 빠릿빠릿하게 쓰지도 못하고, 답변하다가 몇 차례 절기도 하고, 생각보다 어려운 토픽이 주어졌던 파트 5에서는 헛소리만 하다가 나왔다…

그런데 오늘 점심에 성적을 확인해보니 점수는 예전보다 10점 떨어지긴 했지만 레벨은 AL로 동일하게 나와있었다! 아무리 당황해서 절더라도, 헛소리를 하더라도, 뻔뻔하게 차분히 혀를 굴려가면서 말하면 점수가 많이 깎이지는 않는 듯하다. (← 실전 꿀팁!)

이번 시험의 최소 목표가 이전과 같은 레벨을 받는 것이고 최대 목표가 이전보다 높은 점수를 받는 것이었는데, 극강의 시간적/금전적 효율로 최소 목표는 이루게 되었다. 😎🎵 2026년 1월까지는 한시름 놓게 되었으니 그 기간 동안 이 성적을 잘 써먹어봐야겠다!
